How daylight saving works
- In spring, clocks move forward one hour ("spring forward"), shifting daylight into the evening.
- In autumn, clocks move back one hour ("fall back") to standard time.
- Most of the US, Canada, UK and EU observe DST; most of Asia, Africa and the tropics do not.
- Pakistan trialled DST in 2008–2009 but does not currently observe it.
- The southern hemisphere's DST runs opposite to the northern hemisphere's.
