Formula

Trees = Total Area ÷ spacing²
  • Assumes square spacing (same distance between trees in all directions).
  • For triangular/offset planting, multiply by 1.155 for ~15% more trees.
  • Common spacings: orchard 10–20 ft; timber 6–8 ft; windbreak 8–15 ft.
