Formula

Sum of 5 parameters (each 1–3 pts). Total 5–6 = A; 7–9 = B; 10–15 = C
  • Class A (5–6): 100% operative mortality risk 10%.
  • Class B (7–9): 31% operative mortality.
  • Class C (10–15): 76% operative mortality.
  • Used for surgical risk and transplant listing.

Child-Pugh is used to estimate prognosis in cirrhosis, guide treatment decisions, and assess surgical risk. MELD score is now preferred for transplant listing but Child-Pugh remains widely used clinically.
